Counselling can be sought for a variety of reasons, reflecting the diverse challenges that we as individuals face in our lives. We all have moments of needing support from others. Counselling offers this support in a confidential and private space, when you need just a bit more expertise. Here at Willow Psychotherapy, I can provide you with specialist support to work with you when you need this assistance.
What can I help you with?
Anxiety
Anxiety, in the context of counselling, is often defined as a persistent feeling of unease or fear that can manifest in various ways, including excessive worry, nervousness, or panic attacks.
Psychotherapy offers support through the development of coping-strategies and an opportunity to explore the ways in which your own anxiety manifests to aid you in management and recovery.
Bereavement
Psychotherapy provides a supportive environment where individuals can express their feelings, process their grief, and begin to heal. Bereavement is unique and personal to the individual, with the therapy process aiming to help clients cope with their sorrow, develop adaptive strategies, and find ways to honour the memory of the deceased, facilitating a pathway towards acceptance.
Confidence
Confidence issues in the context of counselling refer to the struggles individuals face regarding their self-esteem and belief in their own abilities. These issues can manifest in various ways, such as self-doubt, anxiety in social situations, and a tendency to avoid challenges or opportunities.
Psychotherapy offers a supportive environment where clients can explore the roots of their confidence issues, through techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT).
Depression is a diagnosed mental health condition characterised by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed. Psychotherapy provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore their feelings, and through utilising psychotherapeutic techniques, gaining insights that can facilitate healing and recovery.
Depression
Grief & Loss
Grief and loss are profound emotional responses, representing the deep sorrow and anguish that individuals experience following the death of a loved one or significant life changes. Psychotherapy provides a supportive space for individuals to process their feelings, understand their grief, and develop coping strategies. Recognising that grief is a highly personal journey, I encourage clients to explore their emotions in a non-judgmental environment, facilitating healing and resilience.
Stress
Stress, in the context of counselling, refers to a psychological and physiological response to perceived challenges or threats in an individual’s life. It often manifests as feelings of anxiety, tension, and overwhelm, which can impact mental well-being and overall quality of life. By exploring these challenges in a supportive environment, individuals can learn to manage their stress and improve their emotional health.
Trauma & PTSD
Trauma refers to the emotional and psychological impact of distressing events, which can disrupt an individual's sense of safety and wellbeing. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a diagnosed mental health condition that may develop after experiencing
or witnessing such traumatic events.
Utilising psychotherapy, I provide a safe space for individuals to process their experiences, develop coping strategies, and begin the process of healing. Clients can be helped to navigate their feelings, memories, and behaviours related to trauma, aiming to enhance resilience and promote recovery.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Support
Willow Psychotherapy provides support to families and sufferers of this terminal illness, through providing counselling to explore coping strategies linked to stress, and to talk through thoughts and feelings arising from all aspects of this illness. ACT therapy is offered as part of the holistic approach that I provide through Psychotherapy, helping sufferers to live life with fulfilment and resilience.

Psychotherapy

Understanding the mind is a fundamental aspect of counselling
At Willow Psychotherapy the main approach to therapy is psychotherapeutic counselling, which through the Pluralistic approach encompasses many evidence based techniques, to offer an adaptive and holistic approach to support the individual needs of clients.
Dependent upon the individual needs of each client, psychotherapy may consider the neurological causes and scientific understanding of many mental health problems. This can range from understanding the impact of stress upon the individual to recognising the effect upon those with diagnosed disorders such as PTSD. The current considered therapeutic approaches that are best to aid recovery or to support clients are then utilised to assist the client to make positive change, through enabling a supportive and confidential therapeutic relationship to build, where positive change is fostered and developed.

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique, scientifically proven to assist people to make positive changes in their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, through accessing the subconscious mind.
A relaxing and supportive process over a course of sessions, will allow for deep-seated thought patterns and emotions to be positively re-framed through guided relaxation, focused attention and suggestion. This is achieved only with client's willingness and co-operation, where you are at all times aware and in control.
Let your mind be freed of the constraints and limitations that are holding you back from your true self.

What is the
Pluralistic Approach?
The Pluralistic Approach is particularly helpful to clients who may not feel comfortable working within the constrains of one modality, such as CBT.
At Willow Psychotherapy, many different modalities may be employed throughout the process of your sessions, you will benefit from being able to work and shape your own therapy, guided by myself, where together we can work to help to bring more positivity to your life.

Bespoke counselling will guide you along a path of self-discovery and growth while promoting resilience and emotional well-being.
